Concert in Memory of Vedat Kosal

Renowned piano virtuoso, musicologist, and composer Vedat Kosal is being commemorated with a concert organized by the Vedat Kosal Music Application and Research Center at Yıldız Technical University on the 25th anniversary of his passing. This year’s concert, to be held at the Sound Recording Studio of the Faculty of Art and Design on YTÜ’s Davutpaşa Campus and featuring young pianist Utku Asan, aims to present a wide-ranging repertoire spanning from the Classical Period to the 20th century.

The first part of the program features Joseph Haydn’s Piano Sonata (Hob. XVI:50), while Gershwin’s iconic work Rhapsody in Blue—which blends jazz with classical Western music—takes center stage. Utku Asan, who has garnered attention for his successes at international festivals and competitions, will perform Modest Mussorgsky’s masterpiece *Pictures at an Exhibition*—a work that transforms visual imagery into music—in the second half of the program. The concert will conclude with Fazıl Say’s *Kara Toprak*, a work inspired by the Turkish folk music tradition.

All music lovers are invited to this special program, which brings together different centuries and musical worlds.
